General
A ZETEC is near enough the same weight as a X/flow (approx 10 kg more) so use the tried and tested 145 lb front springs for road use. Because of the extra power a turret conversion is recommended, there is no point have extra power if you can’t get traction. Unlike a Cosworth Turbo conversion the power from the ZETEC will be far more useable.
A top tip for any old car, let alone Mk 1/2 Escort, is to fit poly bushes. They really make a difference and are quite simple to fit. I use Deflex bushes and think they are great, they even come with a lifetime garuntee.
What I'm doing
I've opted for compression struts and the front with Grp 4 Bilstein front dampers with 190lb springs.

At the back their will be a 5 link kit with turretted AVO adjustable coilovers with 180 lb springs for road/track day use. This should keep it all under control.

I bought my panard rod from TJ Motorsport and it mounts the opposite side to the norm. This is becuase most rally cars used engines with the exhaust on the other side, ie Pinto. Therefore, the exhaust would be in the way of my panard rod, hence having it mount the other side, simple.
4 link kits can be bought from £130 to £350 so shop around and read the description to see what your getting. If you plan to race your car you are restricted to what 4 link kit you can use so chck the regulations before buying.
